Explanation

Oregon State University has negotiated discount agreements with several freight carriers. There seems to be no practical way to assume that one carrier will be less expensive than another until quotes are obtained. Distance from hub terminals, inter-line links, carrier equipment, and insurance all affect rates. For in-bound freight, you should instruct the vendor to write Oregon State University on the top line of the Bill of Lading.

This will insure that you receive the appropriate discount from the freight carrier. Be sure to include the department, contact name, and contact phone number to avoid delay and confusion when the freight arrives on campus.
